Who We Are

About Lake County Medical Society

Our Mission

"To advocate for physician interests at the local and state level through policy reform, legislative engagement, and professional education — ensuring that physicians remain at the center of patient care decisions."

Our Vision

"A healthcare system where physicians lead patient care, policy reflects medical expertise, and the doctor-patient relationship is protected from administrative interference."

About the Society

The Lake County Medical Society serves physicians in Northwest Indiana and is part of the Tenth District of the Indiana State Medical Association. With over 400 physician members, we are the local voice for MD, DO, and resident physicians in Lake County.

Our work spans three core areas: advocacy on legislative and policy matters affecting physicians, professional education through topical CME meetings, and direct engagement with Indiana state legislators on issues critical to the practice of medicine.

Current priorities include addressing the evolving role of nurse practitioners in medical practice, reducing the administrative burden of prior authorization requirements, and advancing legislative policies that strengthen physician-led public health efforts, protect the physician practice environment, and support high-quality patient care amid the increasing corporatization of medicine.
